If we have developed the wiring for a certain orientation, or if we rely upon one side of our prefrontal cortex, does that mean that we are stuck? No! We can rewire our brains to navigate life more effectively and become more of someone others want to follow.
Whenever I see leadership changes, I can’t help but think that what lied at the root of their inability to be more successful was themselves, and in particular their lack of mindfulness and lack of understanding of the mindsets that drive their non-conscious automatic processes.
I also find it helpful to think of mindfulness as a muscle. One of the things that you may have realized during the initial exercises is just how quickly our minds want to race off to other places. If our minds are really quick to race off, it suggest that our mindfulness muscles are weak.
